This show will soon be up on kboo.fm:
New York based writer and researcher Kristen Lewis is co-director of the American Human Development Project, a non-partisan, non-profit initiative to apply a well established international approach to measuring human well-being in the US. The human development index is a fact-based tool that examines health, education and income and compares the data across geographic, ethnic and gender lines within the US and across the globe. The results will surprise you and should steer a national debate. The report includes practical recommendations.
Many of the national findings are mirrored locally in Multnomah County. Jean DeMaster, Director of Human Solutions, will offer some local data and give examples for creative responses in addressing issues related to poverty and inequality.
This is the book that was featured on the show.

If I had a hammer...
We had our collective meeting last night, for the first time in two months!
September hosting is now scheduled as well as much of October. Bread and Roses will not be on the air August 29th and September 5, due to pre-emptions by KBOO.
But stay tuned for more podcasts of our shows to be on the http://www.kboo.fm/ -- we are starting to get serious about it!
